End of DawnofMidgard

Hello People!

I have tried being optimistic about this server for the past 1 month, but my efforts have gone in vain, The server now has ~90 players with 50-60 vendors. I know there are people who still believe in the server, but for me, there is a fine like between being optimistic and being delusional. There are hardly 10 people who are playing during my timezone and I can't find a single party through the entire day.

The server had been quite fun and I have met loads of friends. Unfortunately, I couldn't play Whitesmith due to heavy nerfs, but I enjoyed my other chars especially my Hindsight Prof.

The Beginning

It all started when Derisotre approached me while I was playing IRO and dragged me with him to try out DoM. The server looked very promising with close official settings. There were hardly any good trans servers during that period and I was quite attracted to its features(especially autoloot XD). Going through the forums, I found out there were heavy nerfs on Mavkas, Hill Winds and Whitesmith in general. This discouraged me and I had to choose an alternate job class. After a heavy thought, I settled for an SBK Sinx.

The early days were quite good with Legit Business. Loads of friends on Discord and everyone was having fun. There are 2 ways to play a low-rate i.e. choose to level the old way by making small parties or level with epic exp using multi-clients. I knew Thae was out there somewhere trying to get his Ice-Pick. I chose the later and missed nooby parties with my guild :P. I met Kiri and Sera in Legit business and they were quite fun to pay with. It was going quite good until Deri had to leave RO due to some work issues and the guild suddenly went semi-afk. Most members created alt chars and put them in other guild and I had to find an alternate guild too.

The server started very strong. It had over 1k players and everyone was enjoying the first week. However, DDOS hit the server pretty hard. Many people including few PVM guild left the server and never came back. Moreover, they added a 1k player cap to the server and that frustrated all the players who couldn't login. I guess this was the main reason why the server never reached 2k players.

After a while I found out the Thae had made a guild along with Alex from Liberty. Having known both of them for almost 5-6 years, I left Legit Business and joined Horizon. I brought Sera and Kiri with me and had 2 awesome players who joined with me everywhere. With an SBK Sinx and a HP, everything below 16k HP was dead :P. Me and Kiri went to explore every different map and had loads of fun! Alex went for his usual Sniper and Thae made his HP and WS combo. Having played WS our entire life, me and Thae knew playing a WS on DoM was not possible and it would just be an alt char sitting in town. I also met a cool knight named Gizzle in the guild. Things seemed fine for a month and I took a break after a month since the guild was quite new and we couldn't do high-end dungeons or MVPs.

The server still had heavy DDOS attacks and was down almost every day. People were still frustrated and the server kept losing new players every day.

After The Break

I came back after a while and the guild had loads of new members. Kiri quit of out boredom, so I went ahead and tried a Hindsight Prof. During this point they introduced Battleground and they had every single materials available through BG. They had also include cards like Plasma, Cloud Hermit etc into BG rewards. Well, that threw the 'close to official' out of the window. The prices of starsand, stems and even poison spores came down and the only demand for AD was in Endless Tower.

While playing my Sage, I met XYZ(name classified :P) and he told me how to level using exp tap. I was amazed when he could macro 10-12 clients all on his own. Me and XYZ would just organize Niff and Magma parties where we had scripts for everything(wiz, bragi, devo and buffs). On top of that we stacked 7-8 acolytes outside party and used scripts on them to cast Signum Crusis which helped in Exp Tap. It was awesome for 2 players to control 18-20 chars at the same time :D. I just had to invite 3-4 mobbers and we would pull such amazing exp. We went from lvl 1 novice to lvl 89 Trans in 2 days :D. It got boring quite quickly and I just wanted to play my prof, so me and him had to part our ways.

The Semi AFK-Stage

Real-life caught up with me and I couldn't play too much RO. I just spent my days wandering around with my Prof. Many new members like Ana, Mario and Lydia joined the guild and stayed very active. The guild was doing good ET runs but we didn't go far as many members were quite new and ungeared. Most of the guild had unlocked Abbey and we had guild parties everyday.

This is when things started getting weird. The admins started putting too much focus on WOE. Too many changes and fixes to make WOE more interesting. It seems the admin were trying so hard to please the WOE crowd. The people on the forums were so absurd. For Ex: Putting WOE food in BG, no problem, but allow teleport in Amatsu Dun1 and everyone gets annoyed =.=

The Ending

Population went down to 200. Apart from Gizzle, I had nobody to talk during my timezone. This is when I planned on providing leech services with my Prof. I could pull 60m exp Ice Dun3 and used this to start my leech service. It was pretty hard as I could only find 3-4 people while shouting for 12 hrs but I met some nice people during leech.

At this stage the admins went full retard. They had no clue on what they wanted. They became so desperate to please the WOE crowd. Every suggestion regarding WOE was implemented without second thought. The server quickly changed to low-rate WOE. The population tumbled to 150(including vendors) and there were no new players/guilds interested anymore. On top of that they started putting some ridiculous rules for WOE. For Ex: If any char without guild (a lone SinX/champ) interfered during WOE, they received a ban.... Seriously?
In the end the admins are left with 3-4 woe guild and ~50 PVM people to cater. If 1-2 guilds left, the server would die the very next week.

The server was wonderful during its peak period. I made loads of friends and had some memorable moments with them. The hype during launch brought so many lost friends and I am glad to have played this server. I only wish I could have spent more time with the new members of Horizon.

Currently there seems to no good reliable server. I might take a short break until a promising server shows up.
