Dawn of Midgard vs Sarah Server

After taking a short break from RO, I looked for some good low-rate servers and the ones which made the list were Dawn of Midgard and Sarah Server.

I played both of them for a while and here are my opinions on both the servers:

Dawn of Midgard

Pros:
  • Good stable server with nice customisation.
  • They generate revenue by offering tremendous amount of costume headgears.
  • Server has been around for a while and has a stable economy.
  • All high-tier equipment i.e. Bison Horns, Ice Picks, Salamander cards etc are available on market at a reasonable price.
  • Very good WoE competition.
  • The staff are trying hard to please both the PvM and WoE players.
  • Plans to add new PvM content i.e. New World.

Cons:
  • The server has very poor population compared to its counter-part. It also seems to be gradually decreasing.
  • During my timezone the peak hits ~350 with around 100-150 being vendors.
  • Lately, the server has a lot of spikes/lag(my whole guild is experiencing it). Not sure if there has been a server downgrade.
  • The most stupid party play I have ever seen in my whole RO career. Basically, your party just AFKs in a corner while the mobbers lure from the entire map.
  • Practically no diversity in party play. It is always Anolian ->Magma -> Abyss 3. Unless you have your own group of friends, don't expect any fun parties.
  • If 2-3 guilds quit WoE, the server will decline very rapidly.
  • Intended mostly for solo play(multi-client) and using AFK parties for quick level boost.

Sarah Server

Pros:
  • 2.5k+ Users Online!!! I haven't seen that many people on since IRO.
  • Multi-client is disabled.
  • Low-Rates and classic gameplay brings back old memories.
  • Parties literally everywhere.
  • Very easy to find a group of friends.
  • Proxy Sever for US, EU and SEA. Seriously, why hasn't anyone thought of this before? They literally have 7-10 proxy/direct connections for their server.

Cons:
  • Almost the entire community is from Philippines.
  • Don't expect anyone to speak English unless you specifically ask them.
  • It gets quite annoying when you have no clue what the party is saying.
  • The current episode consists of only 2-1 jobs and you have have to wait till June-July for the 2-2 jobs to be implemented.
  • The View Range is fixed to 12-14 cells. This was a big turn-off for me as I wanted to play a Hunter.

So, after trying our both of them, I am planning to stay in DoM. I wanted to make a Rogue and go exploring, so it feels DoM offers more fun compared to Sarah. The good market economy and Autoloot seem to be an added advantage.
It is true that the server might die in a couple of months, but it doesn't really matter when you are playing a solo Rogue :P

DoM, here I come with my Thief!

Adventures on DOM: Back Again

So, boredom strikes again and this time I don't have any good server to play on. The only 2 servers worth playing are DOM and Sarah. While DoM is slowly dying, Sarah server is filled with Philippine players.

I have decided to continue on DoM as the market is pretty good and prices are low.

I am also streaming my game-play using Twitch. You can find the link on the right panel under 'Current Server'. I am quite new to streaming, so I am still figuring things out.

My Prof is doing quite well and can solo almost all the dungeons(except maybe thors and necro). However, multi-clienting is quite troublesome especially while streaming. I have decided to make a new character and level him the old-school way i.e single client and no support. I am thinking of a Rogue or a Knight. If anyone wishes to give me company, pm me on Vagabond.

Here are few screenies of my Prof:

Coco's Nat-Crit Assassin Guide

Hello. Today I am going to focus on Nat-Crit build for Assassin Cross.

Nat-Crit is one of the best ways to build an Assassin Cross. If you love solo-exploring with a tremendous killing power, Nat-Crit is the choice for you. With 300+ flee, 120 crit rate, 177+Aspd and 1-2k damage per hit you will tear the mobs apart.

Here are the pros and cons of this build:

Pros:
  • 100% Critical rate without the use of Soldier Skeleton Cards.
  • Very high DPS. 1-2k Crit with super high Aspd.
  • Very good flee.
  • Very effective for solo play.
  • High fun-factor.
  • Left click for victory!

Cons:
  • Needs to farm a lot of rare cards.(atleast you have something to look forward to)
  • Requires Endow to reach max-efficiency.
  • Although he has very high flee, some monsters still prove difficult without a priest i.e Elder, Owl Duke etc.
  • Mediocre at MVP. Unable to take out Mid-High End MVP effectively.

Few notes before we proceed:
  1. I am assuming you have access to Bio Labs 2.
  2. This guide is intended for complete beginners.
  3. All screen-shots are from RMS Test Server.
  4. Please respect the CC rights and mention the source if you are re-posting the guide.

Build

Stats:
  • Str: Str is your primary stat and should kept at 90+ to achieve a good DPS. The exact number really depends on your equipment and headgear but keep in in multiples of 10s. You should have a minimum of 100 un-buffed Str or 110 using Str cards and food.
  • Agi: Agility is your secondary stat which boost both your Aspd and flee. Aspd should be your main focus. With 92+20 Agi you should have around 177 Aspd using Undershirt+Pantie. Try to get 180 Aspd with buffs and Agi cards. Remember to have your base Agi above 90.
  • Vit: If you do have any stat points left, put it in Vit. IMO 10-15 Vit doesn't really give you a high amount of HP and those points will be rather useful in Str or Vit.
  • Int: Leave it at 1.
  • Dex: Since you will have 100+ crit chance, leave this at 1.
  • Luk: I prefer 52+8 Luk which gives you 120 Crit rate. I have tried playing with 100 Critical chance, but unfortunately monsters have 'Luk' and that reduces your Crit chance to them. For Example, with 120 base Crit you have only 85% crit chance on Joker.

Here is a basic build:

Equipment

Weapon:
  • Jur: The best weapon for a Nat-Crit Sinx. It has 3 slots and is very easily upgraded to +7. Try to get +8-9 for maximum efficiency.
  • Specialty Jur: It has 4 slots which can help you with adding extra Crit card, However, the only reason why this weapon fails is the External Bleeding. With 177+ Aspd you will get the effect every 10-15 mins and it takes away more than 100% of your HP. The only skill which will help you remove it is 'Compress'. Unless you want to permanently carry a Grade 8-Fencer Mercenary with you, I suggest you do not use this weapon.
  • Slotted Elemental Jurs: Yes, they are better than Jur[3], but they cost a lot and you could use that money towards your cards. If you are focusing on a specific monster and would farm them for a long time, you can buy the specific elemental Jur for it. Remember, you can always override the element using Endow.

Headgear:

I would really leave this one for you. Some people prefer using good headgear with stats while others prefer an adorable headgear. Use a headgear which appeals to you.

Armor:
  • Pantie: I prefer using this since the +5 Agi is really useful for boosting the Aspd. Try to get a slot if you have collected all your weapon cards.
  • Thief-Clothes: A very choice if you need a slot. It is way cheaper than a slotted Pantie and is very light weight.
  • Diabolus Armor: An expensive choice. Use it if you want to swap Agi points to Str.

Garment:
  • Undershirt: Best used with Pantie for the +5 Agi. Slot it once you have enough money.
  • Skin of Ventus: Try to avoid it unless it is cheaper than Slotted Undershirt.
  • Rider Insignia: Good choice if you slot it and combo with Black Leather Boots.
  • Asprika: Although it is a god-tier item, it is not really effective. The +30 flee really doesn't help you much since you will have 270+ flee.

Footgear:
  • Black-Leather Boots: Very good choice if you can slot it. Try to combine it with Rider Insignia for the Flee bonus.
  • Fricco's Shoes: A good alternative for if you don't have Black Leather Boots.
  • Sprint Shoes: Try these if you are not using Black Leather Boots.

Accessory:
  • Rogue's Treasure: The backbone for the entire build. Farm 2 of these using Sonic-Blow as an Assassin. Remember to keep your Agi and Str at 90+ to get the bonus.

Cards

Weapon Cards:

These cards should be your main priority and you need 3 of each on your weapon. Try to farm at-least 1 set as an Assassin before you trans. I am listing all the cards in increasing order of difficulty:
  • Cruiser: Brute Monster
  • Goblin Archer: Undead Monster
  • Kobold Archer: Plant Monster
  • Dullahan: Dragon Monster
  • Goblin Steam-Rider: Formless Monster
  • Panzer-Goblin: Demon Monster
  • Rotar-Zairo: Fish Monster
  • Assaulter: Demi-Human Monster
  • Bloody Murderer: Insect Monster

HeadGear Cards:
  • Vanberk Card: +2 Str is very useful for your damage.
  • Holden Card: +2 Luk
  • Nightmare Card: +1 Agi

Armor Cards:
  • Porcellio Card: Best used for offense. The +25 Attack really helps increase your DPS.
  • Picky Card: +1 str to help you reach 110 Str.
  • Baby Leopard Card: Use this if you want to save 3 points on Luk.
  • Elemental Cards: Bathory, Marc, Dokebi for specific monster to avoid skill damage.

Garment Cards:
  • Whisper Card: +20 flee sounds awesome but is really unnecessary. You will have high enough flee and an extra 20 will not help a lot.
  • Bapho Jr. Card: My personal favourite. +3 agi and +2 Crit. That saves you a total of 9 points(3 agi+6 luk).
  • Ninetail Card: +2 Agi, good for your Aspd.
  • Giant-Whisper Card: Very useful but a very rare and expensive card.

  • Wanderer Card. This card if pretty debatable. It gives same stat as Whisper but makes you use Intimate while attacking. Use this if you want free flywing while attacking.

Foot-Gear Cards:
  • Firelock Soldier Card: Use it if you want Str Bonus.
  • Male ThiefBug Card: Gives you +2 Agi. Use it to reach the next Aspd bonus.

Pets

Do not underestimate the power of pets. If you have the patience of feeding them and ignoring the pet-talk, I would strongly suggest to get a pet to help you in your adventure.
  • Yoyo Pet: The best pet for a Nat-Crit Sin. The +3 Crit and -1 luk helps you save 8 points from Luk.
  • Poring Pet: The cheapest pet which gives you Crit+1 and Luk+2. You can also name it 'Poi Poi':P
  • Picky Pet: Str+1, Atk +5. Use this one if you want to round of your str.
  • Petite Pet: This one is for Aspd fans. Helps you save 2-3 Agi points.
  • Lunatic Pet: Crit +2, Atk +2. Use it if you like its cuteness.

Leveling Spots

Although you have 100% crit chance, you should not ignore the normal leveling places. Hill-Winds, Les, Stings are still a good places even though they have very less defence.
  • Turtle Island: This place is one of the best leveling/farming spot for Nat-Crit Assassins. Cruiser cards are very easy to get and you should be able to solo lvl 1 and 2 easily.
  • Goat: An awesome money making place and leveling place. Make sure you take the repeatable quest.
  • Grand-PecoPeco: Wind of Verdure, Mastela Fruits, Oranges and regular drops which sell for 500z+.
  • Apocalypse: You will probably be the only char to hunt these. They drop Steel at a very high chance and the regular Venatu mobs also help with their drops.
  • Nifflheim 1: The place with Loli and Bloody Murderer is a good leveling spot. You can also farm your cards at this place.
  • Stalactic Golem: Although I hate them since they have no elemental weakness, they still give pretty good money with all the Star-Crumbs and Eluniums.
  • Bradium Golem: An excellent place for leveling. Avoid Tatacho and Centipede unless your flee is 300+.
  • Incarnation of Morroc(Solo): Use Aspresio and solo the Spirit(White) incarnations. The Diabolus rings will help you get all your weapon cards.
  • Incarnation of Morroc(Party): I was surprised how easy this place was with a party. I went with 1 Priest and a Prof. Using EDP with makes it laughable with 5-6k+ each crit. Use Safety-Wall, lure and left click. Use Spider Web and Stone-Fling to teleport Angel mobs as you have no cards for them.
  • Dolomentes: Farm here for Bradium Rings. They sell well.
  • Sleeper: Good money if you have the time to break Great-Natures.
  • Kiel 2: Good place to farm, Morpheus Shawl, Vali Manteau and Thin Blade. Use Stone-Fling and Backslide for Constants.

Hope the guide has provided a good insight on Nat-Crit Assassins. If I have left anything out please feel free to post in comments.
