================================================== ===========================

This topic is to show a paladin build that I think it is good and practical mainly in PvP & WoE.

The build would be as follow:

1. Str Dex Vit Paladin with Shield Chain as the main skill.

2. Vit Agi Dex MR Paladin.

3. Str Vit Agi Dex MR & SC Paladin.

4. Int Dex Vit GC/Heal Paladin.

5. Dex Vit Str Devotion Paladin.

Warning: This build is based on my experience and my style of playing. This means it might your match your. So, the best way is to read and try to understand the reason why I build it that way. Then you can try to adjust it into your own build.

================================================== ============

Before choosing the build or start to create your own build, you should ask yourself first that what king of skill that you want to have in your build. Which skill is the most important and which one is not?

Then considering about status and see how you could build your status to get the best out from that skill.

Indeed, never put your status before thinking about the skill. Skill > Status

For Example, if you want to use shield chain as your main attacking skill then you have to ask youself that which status is going to help you to get the best out from this skill.

For Shield Chain you need high str ot incrase the overall damage as well as high dex to reduce your casting time. As a result, your main stat would be Str and Dex. Then if you want to use this build in PvP & WoE then you would need at least the total vit of 60 - 100 depends on how strong you want your paladin to be.

High Vit means more HP and Status immunity. However, high vit means that the AD from Biochemist can kill you easier as well. So, you need to balance your vit together with your str and dex.

Following the same way of thinking and choose your status carefully will make your build matching what you need the most. Start from asking and answering yourself what do you want your paladin to do the most and try to build it from their.

Don't expect your build to do everything for you, otherwise instead of becomes a strong paladin you would becomes to be a duck instead which is can do everything but not good at any of them.

Read my build and think. Then start to adjust it to match you style of playing.

BUILD 1: STR DEX VIT PALADIN

  • Disadvantages
  • Skills & Status
  • Skill Analysis
  • Status Analysis
  • How to distribute the skill & Status and where to level?
  • Shield Chain Skill Analysis:
  • Some nice Combo to use with Shield Chain.

Aim:

1. This build is mainly for PvM and can still use it in PvP & WoE situation.
2. This build is an attcking build so the status is mainly to support those attacking skills.
3. This build is for those who love to leveling and want to level it by yourself. (No party required)
4. This build can help you leveling up very fast because you can leveling in the map that most of people can't go and that map just give you huge Base & Job EXP.
5. This build has the best protection from lots of shield skills. As a result, you won't be hurt that much even though your vit is only 60.
6. This build is very flexible in term of the subsequently skills rater than the main skills that you need to have.

Disadvantages

1. Low vit means you can easily kill by those 1 hit kill skill like asura or Sonic Blow.
2. Low Int means you have to pot a lot in order to use Shield Chain to leveiing.
3. If you want to have the total str of 110 you need to have a +9 firelock boots or shoes.
4. Low Vit & Int menas you will be effected by status very eash. The combo of Sleep + Posion could kill you easily.
5. You need to have a lots of good gears to protect youself while you still don't have a shiled skill to protect yourself.

Skills & Status:

Skill Analysis:

Sword Man Skills:

Sword Mastery at lv 8: you need this skill to increase your normal hit attack as well as bash. This could help you to level up faster when you're a sword man as well. However, if you need it up to lv 10 you can get more point from droping Endure from lv10 to lv 8.

Bash at lv 10: More lv means more chance of stunning your target so it has to be at lv10 no question ask.

Provoke at Lv 10: This can help you to increase the total damage of Shield chain so it need to be at lv 10 for this build.

Endure at Lv10: In PvP, you can have an extra of 10 Mdef. With the mdef set of equipment you can have you mdef up to 70 which make it easy for you to fight against those mage class characters.

Magnun Break at lv 1: This skill is to use with a status weapon. For example you can use it together with a sword breaker in front of the EMP to break the weapon of the other guild.

Paladin Skills:

Shield Chain @ Lv5 - This is the main skill for you to use in leveling so you need to maximize it to lv. 5.

Shield Boom @ Lv5 - At level 5, you can use shield boom at the range of 11 cells. This skill is very good to use it with a status weapon. This make you become the one that can use Mail&Sword breaker better than any other job.

AutoGuard @ Lv10 - Since you vit is quite low so you need an extra protection from this skill. At lv10 the delay after blocking is reduce to only 0.1 instead of 0.3 from lv1-9. At 30% rate of blocking you have more chance to survive against asura as well.

Reflect Shiled @ Lv10 - This skill has to be at lv 10 since it help you a lot in PvP & WoE. Also in term of MVPing, shield reflect help you to deal lots of damage back to those MVP.

Faith @ Lv 10 - You have your HP increase by 2000.

Peco Peco Ride @ lv1 - This skill help you to move faster as well as help you to increase your weight limit for 1000 unit. So, this is a must have skill for this build.

At can be seen above, you have 15 point left over to play around with. Now it depend on you what you want to add these point into.

If you want to have more skill to attack, you can put 10 points into holy cross and another 5 point into Cavalier Mastery to get your ASPD back.

If you want to have devotion (Sacrifice) in your build you can also put all 15 points and get it up to lv5 of Sacrifice.

If you worry too much about full strip from stalker you can use 10 point to get BC lv 1 and another 5 point into Cavalier Mastery to get your ASPD back.

Which way is upto you? Choose the best one that you think you will benefit from it the most.

================================================== =======

Status Analysis:

Str = 99 + 9 + 2 = 110

The total Str of 110 means you will get the best damage out from this build. Str can be upto 120 when leveling. Can be upto 130 if you have blessing and can even be 140 with a +10 Str Food. So, if you want to use shield chain as you main attacking skill, your str need to be at 99 in order to get the best outcome damage from this skill.

In PvM, Str 120 is better than usin the sign. However, in PvP & WoE, you might want to use poo poo hat to have an extra 10% protection for your self in that case you should use the the sing instead of 2x ring mantis. The the rest of accessory can be whatever you want to use such as higing clip, Sight Clip etc.

Str 99 gives you the total weight limit of 6770 which is a lot so you can fight in a WoE very effective as well as in PvP.

Dex = 87 + 8 = 95

Dex in this build is mainly to reduce the casting time of Shield Chain. However, high dex means high hit rate as well, so you don't have a problem that much against those high flee characters.

95 Dex can also give you an bonus of (95/5) = 19 Atk. This could help you to increase your damage a little bit as well.

With 95 Dex your casting time for Shield Chain is 0.36 sec. While the Casting time for GD lv5 is 1.46 sec.

Vit 50 + 10 = 60

The total vit of 60 is good enough for you to PvM. However, PvP & WoE is different. This low vit could be a big disadvantage of this build due to they are weak against status. So be aware of it.

Your HP is also low due to low vit so you could be kill easily by those 1hit kill skill such as asura or sonic blow.

However, unlike the other high vit paladin, you might found that you can fight against those biochemist a lot easier. Using a good gear to reduce the damage from biochemist then you could even kill them if they are not using GR Armor. If that the case this is why you need holy cross in your build.

Luk 2 + 3 = 5

This is where you put your remaining point into. 5 Luk = 1 Atk. Better than nothing right???

================================================== ==========

How to distribute the skill & Status and where to level?

During you are a high Sword man, you should not have any problem at all coz you should have some experience about it already. So, just leveling the same way as you did and try to reach job 50 as fast as possible.

Then for Paladin Skill. you should start it from Faith. Get it up to lv10. Then concentrate mainly on the shield Skills.

Start from lv5 Autoguard > Smith lv3> Shiled Boom Lv 5 > Shield chain lv5 > Defender lv 5

After you have defender lv 5 this means you can start level up by using Shield chain already. So, it's time for riding a grand peco peco then.

Now you would have job of around 35, and your level should be somewhere around 65 - 75 by now. Your Status at this level should be something aroud this:

Total Str has to be at least 90.

Dex should be around 30 - 40. With a low dex you would need a phen clip to use it together with Shield Chain

Vit should be around 50.

Then the map that I suggest you to go is alde_dun03 in aldebaran. Your main target is penomena. At the total str of 90 you can easily kill this monster in 1 SC and receive a hugh exp in return. This map is not very popular so you can level you build easily. The detail of this map can be seen from the link below:

http://www.roempire.com/database/?pa...view&mapid=424

Weapons :

1. Blade with 4 anacondaq cards to kill Penomena. Upgrading weapon won't increase the damage of Shield chain so you might not need to upgrade them at all.

2. Blade with 4 Goblin cards. To kill Cramp

3. Moonlight Dagger to give some sp back for you. You can use this dagger to kill Drainliar. This dagger can reduce your chance of sitting to recover sp a lot.

With the total Str of 90 you can kill Cramp & Penomena mostly in one shot. Drainler you can just simply Bash them or even do a normal attack to save your sp.

Helm: you can use a hotblooded hairband to have a bonus of 2 str or you can use helm to incrase your def.

Mid & Lower Helm: Finhelm & Iron cain when you're ready to use it:

Armor: you can use a status armor such as pest card or dark frame card or any other status armor. Otherwise just use a normal pecopeco armor.

Shield: Defender lv5 will help you a lot here so you might want to use shield with Orc Warrior Card to reduce the damage from cramp and drainliar. For Str 90 you won't need to use an over upgrade shield, so +4 shield is fine and can still kill them in 1 shot.

Hood: Just Manteau with the raydric card will be fine.

Boot: +9 Fire lock Boots is the best one for you but if you still can't afford it at that time then you can use either a green boots or a Sohee boots. However, when you're running out of SP and don't want to pot then you can bring a sandle + eggyra card along with you. Use it when you sit, this card can help you to increase your SP Recovery rate upto 15%.

Accessory: you need phen clip and the other one could be mantis clip or the sign.

Drop items in this map are not good at all but at this time you main aim is to level fast in order to get more status and more skills as fast as possible. So, don't worry much about the drop items.

However, if you still don't have the sign yet then this is the best time to collect the quest item such as Coral Reef. You can sell this item for a good price as well for those who want to for the sign quest.

Penomena Card is also expensive and very useful. If you're lukcy enough you should get at least 1 or 2+ before you reach lv 90.

From here to lv 90 your must have skills should be maximize already. Then you're ready to go anywhere you like. Yes!!! it's time to hunt for rare items now:

In case that you can get a penomena card then you might considering leveling at

Your Status at lv 90 should be:

Str 100 - 110

Dex 70 - 80

Vit 50 - 60

In case that you are not get any bonus from str when using a ring mantis then you better using The sign instead.

After this try to max out your dex first then go to vit and finish it with str. The reason to max out str later than dex and vit is because you're normally reach lv 99 at around job 65 - 66. However if you keep on leveling at alde_dun03 until lv99 then your job could be upto 67.

Anyway, this thing is you mightl get +9 Str from job bonus when you reach job 64 which means it should be around lv 96 - 97. So, their is no need to get the str when you can't get it round up to 100 or 110.

From lv 90 - 95, you might want to try on a new map in juperos_01. I never been there but the monster and exp there make it very interesting to leveling there. You might want to party it with one high priest. Ask him to use a pest Armor to stone curse those monsters while tanking for you then do a lex aeterna on each monster before you SC them to death in 1 shot. Their are so many monster here so you might found that you don't have to searching for any monster at all because they are the one who searching for you.

http://www.roempire.com/database/?pa...=view&mapid=29

The drop item here is not bad considering the exp they give and item they drop, I would say that this map is not too bad to level.

After lv 95, you should level at the map that give you lot of job exp and you can kill them within 1 SC. You might want to party with high prist and ask him to Lex Aeterna first before you Shield chain them to kill them in one shot and save your sp.

Shield Chain Skill Analysis:

Information from this section is based on the link below: Thanks for them to save my time to explain this skill. ^^

http://www.ragnainfo.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=71495

Rapid Smiting - also known as Shield Chain

Max level: 5

Requirements:

Shield Boomerang LV 5
Shield - [need to be equiped]

Discription:

* Using the shield, you will deal 5 repeated attack in a single skill. Hit chance of this skill depends on your HIT rate, and additional damage can be gained by having the shield to have high refined rate and having a heavy shield. Final damage will include subtraction from enemy DEF as well. SP taken increases as you use higher level of this skill.

Target: Single Enemy
Range: 4
Attack Type: Non-elemental, physical range attack
Casting / After-Cast Delay: 1 Sec. / 1 Sec.
Etc.: Requires a shield to be equipped.

Skill LV | +Damage % | + HIT Bonus | SP Taken
LVL 1 = 130% - +20 - 28
LVL 2 = 160% - +20 - 31
LVL 3 = 190% - +20 - 34
LVL 4 = 220% - +20 - 37
LVL 5 = 250% - +20 - 40

Total damage formula:

DMG = [[[(bare hand attack x Target DEF reduction) + Shield weight + shieldrefine x 4] x skillMOD ] + + Fixed Damage (0~100)] x cardMOD x 5 hits x EquitmentMOD

Bare hand attack= Calculate from Str + Str Bonus + (Total Dex / 5) + (Total Luk / 5)
DEF reduction = Target Defend Reduction
Shield weight = Weight of shield
Shield refine = Refine value of shield
SkillMOD = Damage multiplier from skill lvl.
CardMOD = Damage multiplier from cards.
EquitmentMOD = Damage multiplier from EQ's like masquerade / the SIGN

* (1-DEF/100)-{Vit DEF} )
* {Number of Hits}

(thanks to Meister who pointed this out)

Facts:
  • Rapid Smiting does 5 hits per cast.
  • At level 5, Rapid Smiting "damage modifier base on skill level" is | 250% damage * 5 = +1250% damage |
  • Rapid Smiting is INTERUPTABLE
  • Rapid Smiting DOES NOT ignore defense. VIT and Armor DEF affects it.
  • Rapid Smiting could "MISS" if you do not have enough Hit. It is affected by HIT
  • Rapid Smiting IGNORES size penalty
  • Rapid Smiting is ALWAYS nuetral
  • Shield's weight affects Rapid Smiting
  • Shield's refine rate affects Rapid Smiting
  • + weapon % cards affects Rapid Smiting
  • For the maximum effectiveness, use 4 slotted one hand weapons(that are wearable by Paladins).
  • Swordbreaker and Mailbreaker WORKS with Rapid Smiting but the weapon effect chance to work will only work once even though Rapid Smiting does 5 hits.
  • Weapon upgrade does not affect Rapid Smiting
  • Ice pick does not work with Rapid Smiting
  • Pnuema block Rapid Smiting completly
  • Being affected by status ailment, curse, does not lower Rapid Smiting's damage. Cursed does not affect your Rapid Smiting damage.
  • + ATK items or cards does not affect Rapid Smiting
  • Defending Aura reduces Rapid Smiting damage
  • Assumpio reduces Rapid Smiting damage
  • Energy Coat reduces Rapid Smiting damage
  • Poopoo Hat, Raydrick carded garments, and racial shields reduces Rapid Smiting damage.
  • Ghostring carded Armor reduces Rapid Smiting considerably.
  • Endowing your weapon with element will render oponent's Raydrick carded garment (Immune) useless. [in short, it will ignore immune]

Often preffered 4 slotted weapons for Rapid Smiting:

+x Blade [4] - Best choice for Normal melee wacking, Rapid Smiting and Matyr's Reconning leveling
+x Main Gauche [4] - All around weapon. Also good for Matyr's Reconning
+x Pike [4] - Got a knight? Will only level using Rapid Smiting/Matyr Reconning? Use pike!
+x Mace [4] - Got a monk? Want to save zeny? Will only level using this skill? Got Quadrople Liberation Mace? Well maces are good enough for you.

Some nice Combo to use with Shield Chain:

In order to use shield chain sufficiently you need to know how to combo it with the other skill.

1. use a status dagger to freeze them. Being frozen menas their def is reduce by 50% and become to be a water element. Then you can use blade + 2 Hydra & 2 Drainlair to kill them easily.

2. use a status weapon such as mail Breaker to brake their armor before attacking them. Most of player that're fighting against Paladin will use a pecopeco armor or a pupa armor. As a result to break their armor means you reduce their Max HP as well.

3. Use a status weapon + shield boom to infect some status from the distance. Then get close to them to kill them later. If your target has low vit try to stun them before shield chain them. if your target has low int try to blind them so they can't see where you are.

4. Use a dagger with 2 plankton cards 2 boa cards and shield boom or smith your target away. If their vit and int is not 100 then they have a chance to infect by both sleep and poision at the same time. This is the nice combo that sinX normally use to kill their target and now we can use it to kill them as well.

5. When fighting with sinX or Champion try to move around and don't stand still. Then use you shield with 4 marina cards to freeze them. Then SC them + Smith them away if you lucky enough they will get stun then SC + Bash them again to death.

6. Always use Provoke before you SC your target.

7. Never let your target get close to you. If they get close to you then smith them away. If their flee is to high you you can't hit them that meansh their vit could be low try to stun them by using an element weapon from blacksmith + smith. Then when they are getting stun use a combo Bash + SC to kill them.

8. You can use curse water or element scroll from sage to bypass your damage through the robe defend. This means if your target is using raydric card inside their robe then you can increase your damage easily.

9. GD is another good skill to combo with shield chain but it only work for those low hp characters.

10. The best combo to use is Provoke + Bash + SC + Bash + SC and repeat. So, you might considering having lv5 of Cavalier Mastery into your build in order to increase your speed of bashing. Getting Stun while being spaam by SC is a nighmare trust me.

11. In WoE you can use Smith to stun your target very easy coz they won't move away from you like in PvP situation. At lv3 the stun rate of smith is 30% while at lv5 it can be increase upto 40%. Once again Stun & SC is the best way to kill your target.

12. In PvP or PvM, Shrink is the good skill to use with this build. The knock back affect give this build an advantage of not being hurt that much.

13. Try not to provoke SinX.
