(V)avs solo ME priest Guide

Final Note from (V)av - Remember guys. Alot of playing this game is finding out your own unique and crazy ideas. I hope this is a nice start off to help you guys out in the beginning. [ "Ragnarok Online isn't a scripted game, YOU make the game" 8/01/05 -(V)av- ]So remember that, have fun playing guys

-----Introduction-----

If your in this profession for soloing and whooping *** then this is the place for you...heres what you do (remember this is my opinion so you don't have to follow this build but im a pretty successfuly ME priest =P just have fun with it im pretty sure you'll learn a thing or two)
Okay to point out, this is not a good starting character, a merchant with 10 OC and DC is recommended to help sell your crap and to help buy your blue gems (which is a neccessity...unless you have a mistress card...for ME)

-----Stat Build-----

Going 99 int/dex is a must for soloing survival cause getting 99 vit and a phen clip...ur cast is gonna be soo freaking slow you can go make some tea and come back and be half way done with ur cast so in other words...screw vit
Easy enough build yeah?
99 int
99 dex

-----Skill Points-----

Poor little Aco skills-----
Build goes as this (this the way i did it and in order):

-10 Heal (10 heal already?!?! Yes your primary source is heal bombing so strengthen your offense ASAP)
-5 Divine Protection (pre reqs for blessing)
-10 Blessing (wtf?!?!? soo much sp wasting? psshh i can outrun undead anyways and more int means faster regening)
-10 Agi (will make things easier in harder places who needs tele yet when u can buy fwings)
~~~~~~~~Highly recommended--do Holy Light skill quest at this time~~~~~~~
-1 Ruwach (pre req for tele and all plus it looks flashy =P)
-2 Tele (woo hoo no more fwing spending)
-4 Warp (OMG i can warp my *** to GH myself now dont forget the bgems plus u need 4 for pneuma )
-1 Pneuma (can u say firelocks? dont know what they are look it up)
-1 Aqua Benidicto (your gonna need this for pre reqs for priest skills so why bother wasting a priest/ess skill point when you have sooo many here)
-----
Now lets count shall we *adds together* Wow job 45?!?!? you can turn there BUT i strongly recommend getting one more job lvl for Cure. Cure is soo helpful to other players and what not I mean look what it does, it cures silence (of course not on yourself -_- and it makes a nice ding noise XD ) and of course if you are dedicated you can go to job 50 and get some points into Angelus but lets face it...we're trying not to take any dmg we're not tanks =P
The bad boy Priest skills-----
-4 SP recovery (cool more regen SP but i have alot o_O...well you need it for res buddy plus who would complain about faster regenning XD)
-1 Status recovery (also needed to res and cures frozen)
-1 Res (pre req for TU plus with high dex who needs lvl 4 waste of skill points for ME users)
-3 Impositio Manus (pre req for asperio but so is aqua benedicta...arent you glad you got that as an aco)
-4 Asperio (Keeping in mind all these skills are for pre reqs for ME but with all these skills you can still support a small party i mean geez soo helpful I can solo and party WOW!)
-3 Sanctuary (Damn soo many pre reqs but theyre always nice additions to your list of always useful skills)
-1 Safety Wall (Just one point is needed right now for ME but we'll talk about this later)
-5 Lex Devina (*casts spell* no magic for u muhahahha)
-1 Let Aeterna (powerful..double your attack for one attack nice pre req)
-3 Turn Undead (this skill is gonna be awesome for u in the early lvls as well as later lvls)
-10 ME (omg finally...after all those points going into whatever i can get it!! dont celebrate too long you won't be using it for awhile just cast it and youll see why)
-3 Mag (okay why are you putting this last Mav?!??! The answer is...1. your not a heal slave so all the SP is for you. 2. Going all int first and plus SP recovery and your SP bonus when you turn to Priest sheesh plus whatever gears you have already do you need any more SP >_< but yeah understanding that faster SP regen is needed for higher lvls cause youll be travelling to more difficult places to train is why i put it at the end)
This should take you to Job 40 and at this time your int should be already 99 and you SHOULD be working on dex ... *person says but Mav okay i can cast ME but i have no defense and i get hit before I can get it off* ... well my good friend lets talk about where to put your remaining job points into.
-10 Safety Wall (this will take you to job 49 cause you already put 1 into it from pre req for ME... *person says* how come not kyrie?? ... alright its like this... at lvl 10 kyrie you get 10 hits and is also affected by the enemys maximum HP...so in other words...in higher lvls where monsters are stronger...its not as effective because Safety Wall at lvl 10 gives you 11 hits of protection and is not affected by anything...and i mean...your not gonna be moving while casting...your not a sage dude)
-1 Free job skill (this ones up to you...you can put another point in TU make it stronger or put it into suff if you wanna help someone or whatever but remember !! ur main purpose is to destroy everything evil >=] )
-----Equips-----
Well thats it for skills how about equipment?
Although many people think dex and casting speed is good i prefer more int over dex. Why you ask? Because seeing these ME priests with AoAs on their head and what not and seeing when they kill things it doesnt impress me because sometimes they have to do another cast which uses up more bgems, more sp...its just too costly. Remember the more int you have the more dmg you produce.
For perfect soloing though (This is just the basics its not the BEST you can get but with these you can basically go anywhere):
Upper head: Elder Willow Card in any s. head gear (biretta, hat or whatever) or if you have the money buy a Crown that gives you +2 int by itself
Middle head: Elder Willow Card in s. glasses or s. sunglasses
Lower head: whatever you want i use a pipe myself cause its special <3
Body: Baby Desert Wolf Card in s. Saints Robe
Left hand: Thief Bug Egg Card in s. Buckler (+400hp always a good thing)
Right hand: 4 Drops cards in 4s. Rod (will give you that extra cast boost and 15% matk)
Garment: Raydric Card in s. muffler (lets face it we'll all get hit but at least this will soften the blow)
Shoes: Verit card in s. Shoes (Maximum HP/SP +8%)
-----Where to level-----
Okay heres a brief lvling guide because I can't remember where I was lvling but I hope it helps a little:
1-13 - Say hello to porings, lunatics, fabres, rockers or what not for awhile. But hey people can be friendly to novices...find a tank =P You should be here till your able to turn into an aco so go do your thing and take off your novice clothes and get into your aco clothes XD.
14-30something - Payon caves Lvl 1 (oh first to note before going here make sure you whack on some porings after you change to aco to gain a couple of job lvls in order to get the Heal ability) Skeletons and zombies are what your aimming for here. Easy to find, see one, heal it, heal it again, will you die or will you be victirious, I suggest buying grapes, they're cheap and the less time you have to stay down here I mean you wanna go where the big boys play dont you?
30something-50ish? - - Welcome to Glast Heim a place where dead never rest and a place where young acos and priests may come together to cleanse the lands of evil. From here you will be traveling inside to the place known as GY or Graveyard. The middle of this map is like a holy cross, a sanctuary if you will, and will be your area of regening, sitting, or chatting to the other little people that are doing what you're doing. Just remember its not always safe in the middle, there are some bad people out there >_>. I highly recommend bringing fly wings with you because there are many vicious and evil things here that can whoop your *** which you can't hit back (Mimic and hunterfly). Other than that you know the drill...heal undead (in this places case Wraiths, ghouls, zombies, and Evil Druids)...run back...rinse and repeat. Oh and grapes should be a neccessity here since your doing it by yourself. I mean hey you want the experience for yourself be greedy /gg.
50ish to 60hmm? - Dun dun dun lets try another part of GH shall we, its called prisons. You are here hunting one thing, zombie prisoners. With your arsenol of grapes and by this time you should have tele, if not, get your *** back to graveyard and stop being lazy, you should be able to hit pretty quick and hard and be able to tele from anything you say that isn't undead...which is pretty much everyother thing XD. This should be able to help you get you skill points till pneuma.
60hmm-JOB CHANGE!!!! - Alright you have pneuma. *person says* what do I do with this soo called "Pneuma?" The answer my friend takes you to a voyage toward Amatsu. Amatsu lvl 2 dungeon (Lvl 1 is the Tatami map which everyone hates which you will see why when you get there) is filled with zombie dudes called Firelocks. Firelocks are uber exp, hell you can go to job 50 here if you want. *Person says* But Mav, there are firelocks in the Tatami map, why can't I just stay there? Good question, the answer is you can't tele, it will slow you down, and probably cost you hella zeny cause you might buy hella grapes. Being able to tele lets you be able to get into an open area where you can rest a little bit, look at the sky, ponder sweet thoughts, overall regening =P. After sometime here omg omg omg I can get out of these smelly aco clothes now and into some sexy stuff.
Job Change-99 - Prisons. Im big, im bad, i got more sp! Heal bombing prisoners will sky rocket your job the first 20-30 or more lvls...hell enough time here will get you to job 50. But that aside, you should be done with int already and working on dex. Your strategy here, once you have TU, you can stop heal bombing prisoners and start using that, sure its a random chance but hey, its like gambling, we know how we are with OBBs /gg. Plus, it's nice to see those big numbers pop out of the prisoners. *person says* "Okay Mav! but I wanna kill more than just the prisoners." Gosh soo picky, but anyways, next strategy, lex aeterna will be your friend and you will be glad you have it and so will Holy Light. Say hello to injustice (the dominatrix naked dudes)...strategy...let aeterna...lean back lean back *sings* jk but yeah move back a good distance...holy light...rinse and repeat. Now we have one monster to cover, rybios. Rybios will be your best friend throughout your whole lvling period. I mean damn have you seen how much exp these guys give? Strategy...for those with low dex between 25-40...pre cast your ME in an open area and when it casts, look up ahead to see if you can lure one into it...while so cast lex aeterna on it before it hits the ME field...don't stop yet once it hits your gonna start running along the borders of your ME field in circles (I call it "Run around the block"). It works like this...ME...find rybio...lex...ME hits...you run around...lex...ME hits again...run around...ME hits again...lex...ME hits last time it falls. *person says* "But Mav, how come you dont lex after the 2nd hit?" The answer to that is because lex aeterna has a delay and it won't be fast enough if you are running around plus if it is barely...its better to heal yourself if you get hit. Okay now we're higher lvl, have higher dex, and now have enough job lvls to max my SW whats the strategy? Experiment, see how fast your cast is with one rybio...see how many times it hits your SW before it casts...if its 5 hits you can grab another rybio and so on and so on. Heres a tip, your in your SW, casting ME, oh sheit theres hella rybios spawned on top of me, your cast is nowhere near done, what do you do? During the time of your cast, the server recognizes you as just standing there, so...feel free to escape, char select, and wala!!!, im safe, now just log back on tele fast and rest up for your next encounter.
Other points of lvling interests brought to my attention by Abyss:
(I recommend going to these places 80+ though so keep that in mind)
Niffle 1 & 2: Low dex people need not apply, the things here hit soo fast and hard you'll have trouble getting your cast off if your slow. Other than that you should be fine. One note though, the lolis in lvl 2 can cast silence and hit extremely hard, so make sure to bring some green pots if your gonna go lvl here.
Geffen 2 & 3: 2 is a little bit more managable you'll still get the nightmare terrors but watch for Dracula. If you can manage the constant mobs and HF go to lvl 3 where you'll find more things you can ME such as Deviruchi and Marionette (or whatever that blue girl thing is)
--Regarding LoD---
I, as a player, went 1-92 solo from what I did as told in this guide, and out of curiousity from 92-93, I myself have used LoD, and I must say LoD SUCKS! It's long, repetative, boring, and I can do more by myself soloing in prisons plus you'll get better drops. Prisons will give you P. Elus, P. Oris, Executioners Gloves, Necklace of Oblivions (you'll like those two items when the weapon quests come out), Cyfar, Brigan (if you don't know what these can be used for then look around), worn our pris uniforms, rotten bandages (cool quest hat items XD). So speaking for myself, prisons is way better.
--What can my ME priest do?--
Let's say your priest is uber powerful now high lvl and what. You say, I'm fast I'm powerful but what can i do now that im uber?
Can I PvP?
Of course anyone can PvP but 1 on 1 youd be pretty dominating. Your cast if fast enough since you have 99 dex + bless + bonuses so getting int equips to make your magic stronger is recommend. Any strategies you say? Note: these are based as 1 on 1s.
Hunter:
Pneuma + holy light
- 'nuff said
Wiz:
Lex Divina (omg didn't i say nice pre reqs!! note: won't always work if the wiz is smart and has green pots at his side or something to resist the effect) + holy light
- If you can, get unfrozen armor so you dont get stuck, your holy light cast speed should be able to knock him out before he/she can do some gruesome dmg to you
Knight(Vit Builds):
Safety Wall + Holy light
Yes they have millions of HP but theyre slow. Just keep the count of how many times they hit your SW so before it breaks cast another SW by you and walk in that one and repeat. *Person says* But Mav what if he/she spear boomerangs me? Good point. You won't get hit that hard remember you have heal and sp, they don't, so they won't be able to keep that up long.
Knight(Agi Builds):
Your ****ed plain and simple.
Assassins:
Safety Wall + Holy light
Poor defense + poor magic defense. Low HP. Too easy.
(Yeah yeah i know im missing alot of other chars but cmon gimme a break I'll finish when i can =P)
Can I be useful in WoE?
Absolutely. Party up with those precasting wizs and you can mag em soo fast theyre SP gonna stay up n full. And while you do that you know what else you can do? You can heal the emperium by casting sanctuary. Nice pre reqs again.*winks* What about offensively you ask? With your guild you can be the guy that takes out wizards and hunters and sins. Fast holy light and low HP enemies, hell yeah your useful. Not to mention bless, agi, imp, mag? OMG! Im offensive and defensive. Jack of all trades i say!
Can I MVP?
Most definately the 3 MVPs ME is suited for are Drake, Osiris, and Dopple well make that 4 Bapho too.
Possible to solo MVP? Many people might say you can't but it is possible. Strategies!? OMG yes I will give you strategies -_-. Your strategy for each MVP is to pre-tele. Meaning, cast tele where you get the box that says Random area, "saved" warp, cancel. Find out the monsters location and move a little bit away so he's away from your screen. Pre-cast your ME at the area it's kind of at. Once its casted go look for it and lure it to your field. As soon as it hits, hit the enter button right away and get your *** outta there. It's a long process but it is possible. Dopple and Osiris spawn maps are easy since you have more room to move around. Drakes spawn area is a little tougher since he always spawns in the middle room of sunkenship which get filled easily with Mimics and penos and other nasties (although Ghostring spawns in Sunken ship too so its like killing two birds with one stone XD) Basically, tele is your friend and life saver. *Person says* Mav why should I cast tele before hand, can't I just tele afterwards? Nah, after casting your ME you will get a nasty delay. Pre-casting makes it so you'll use the skill before actually using it so its a good way to cheat the delay =P
*Person says but Mav can't I do Dark Lord too?* Not with ME buddy, Dark Lord has high mdef so even at a high lvl you will only be knocking off a few hundreds at a time with ME. If you REALLY want to try to get MVP, your best bet is heal bombing,teleing, so on and so on.
Anything else my ME priest can do?
-The path of soloing often gets lonely, but guess what?? You can be support too XD. I mean cmon, you got the basics; bless, agi, heal, res, mag, lex, pneuma, and can help out attacking with holy light. Parties will love you.
-Money maker. Sure buying bgems will cost you quite a bit, but the loot you'll gather from using them will be WAY WAY more than enough to cover that cost and future costs. As proof I will do a test of a cost of 150 bgems and use them all and see how much total I will be able to make
Picture 1 Beginning: (Locked and Loaded)
*edits* i know my pictures dont work D:
Picture 2 Doing your thing: (Don't miss oppurtunities of laying waste to tons of things)
*edits* i know my pictures dont work D:
Picture 3 Final: (1 Bgem left from this remember this is not only using ME but also using TU on prisoners and holy light on injustices and even killing a few flies)
*edits* i know my pictures dont work D:
Estimation of total zeny earned: First you have to buy the bgems, so lets make it worse case scenario and say 600z per gem for those without merchs with DC and what not.
- [ So 600x150 = 90,000 ] Damn Mav 90,000z for bgems (remember this is worse case scenario)
I took the prices of the loot that I've obtained that I could sell to npc and this is without OC so again, worst case scenario. Of course you don't have to sell these items, you can keep for quest or what not, but this is just an estimation of the zeny you can acquire.
- Solid shell - 224z || 2 Carat Diamond - 12,500z || Bent Spoon - 1,250z || Worn Out Prisoner Uniforms - 340z || Red Gemstone - 300z || Rotten Bandage - 175z || Tongue - 264z || Zargon - 240z-
Then I took the loot that can be more prosper to vend other than sell to NPC. (These prices are estimations for the iRO Chaos economy)
- Elunium - 75,000z || Oridecon - 28,000z || Cyfar - 1,400z || Brigan - 1,000z || White Potions - 950z || Steel - 8,500z -
Alright now thats all done lets see the total amount I had made from this trip to prisons (oh and FYI - this took around 2 hours of actual playtime and even after dying once, I've managed to make a good 8%)
-Tongue - 81ea. x 264z = 21,384z
-R. Bandage - 95ea. x 175z = 16,625z
-R. Gem - 19ea. x 300z = 5,700z
-Uniform - 81ea. x 340z = 27,540z
-Zargon - 2ea. x 240z = 480z
-Solid Shell - 3ea. x 224z = 672z
-2c Diamond - 1ea. x 12,500z = 12,500z
-Bent Spoon - 1ea. x 1,250z = 1,250z
-Elunium - 2ea. x 75,000z = 150,000z
-Oridecon - 3ea. x 28,000z = 84,000z
-Cyfar - 41ea. x 1,400z = 57,400z
-Brigan - 67ea. x 1,000z = 67,000z
-Steel - 3ea. x 8,500z = 25,500z
-White Potions - 15ea. x 950z = 14,250z
Total Amount of Zeny From Loot: 484,301z
Total Amount after cost of bgems: 394,301z
-More stuff coming- Suggestions and feedback always welcome-
