The Big Question! Agi or Vit in a Build! Discussion and Guide


So far, we have heard in and out about. One being superior or one being more efficient than the other while we try to get others to follow our example. Today that day Changes with this. This is going to be a guide Run by all of the people in the bard dancer forum. With constant info to be updated with from everyone. And I will start with this. And yes, this will also include transcendent classes for us. And yes for each bard dancer build most will be assumed to have 150 dex and as a minstrel / gypsy 160 dex. Hybrid Builds will also be discussed. Also each builds speciallity support song or dance will be included.

As a Bard and Dancer. Our attacks are ASPD dependent. Usually Requiring Agi to let us do quick and fast damage or... sufficient damage per second or minute.

But as a Fact! That we have a tendency to get into close range combat a lot during woe and the occasional Pvm. We require vit to take those hits and get immune to ailments.

Also Recently... With Biochemist's on the rise and other trans classes I believe its time to size up a bit more what might be a bit more versatile... This Guide will have a Acid Bomb Surviability, Basic Surviability , Offensive Ability, Defensive Ability (CP/MS) and finally Strategic Uses Rating with stars rating (*) 1 being the least and 5 being the most. (This is all Based off PvP/WoE Situations)

Also I will be adding in a Basic Base Stat Build Template for each build. Some ideas are borrowed and some ideas are my own. However don't rule it out to make your own builds to fit what it is you need

*update* Also, most builds today no longer require the stat of str for weight capacity for us iRO players due to Gym Passes, which can be bought at the Kafra Shop. Usage of one can allow your character to learn Enlarge Weight Limit, one per level and tops out at level 10. Each level allows +200 weight capacity. However for you non iRO players, I'm not sure if you guys have something similar, if not I still have not changed the builds below and they still include their str points.

Agi builds

Pros: The ability to level very quickly with bows and instruments hitting high damage per minute. Being able to dodge enemy attacks for those other low hit classes for example swordsmen and thief classes. Does not completely rely on SP to deal damage. Only times you will probably sit is if you need to heal yourself or use Improve Concentration.

Cons: When hit they will be hit hard. Main weakness is Stun, because just one will guarantee that we are out for the count especially since some swordsmen classes get smart and get Very Strong weapons just to stun first then kill us with a PvP weapon. HP is low.

Vit Builds

Pros: The ability to withstand hits very well, have high HP, and very good status resistance against most things. Stun and envenom will not be that much of a concerning factor because you can recover quickly or hardly be affected. Very ideal for supporting. With the right Damage reducing Gears and start spamming frost joke and dazzler, you'll be a tough one to take down in WoE especially with potions. Also while in support mode i suggest getting a 4s Violin with 3 Fabre cards and a Golem card in it 300 more hp and 3 more vit to add to your already high vit. Best choice build for Classical Pluck Teams or Other Ensemble teams in WoE. As you can not get stunned out of CP as easily so you can continue to play CP and take alot of melee hits while doing CP. Also you can have left over points for Str for weight capacity and carrying more white pots in WoE with you.

Cons: Levelling will be a true ***** *no offense intended*, and your levelling will be very limited to very few places. Also, your only way to attack effectively is by using a bow, thus meaning you sacrifice carring a buckler or instrument during an attack. Only meant to take hits and run to allow some one else to kill your problem if you decide to be on the attack. And you will almost always be hit in woe or pvp. Requires moderate amount of Int to do decent damage per minute with bows. But expect to be sitting alot since SP will be your main focus of dealing damage then put into play Healing yourself with a heal clip and then using Improve concentration.

Hybird Builds

Pros: Ability to withstand hits decently, get decent damage per minute, decent HP, and get decent flee. This build can be the true multipurpose, sure, you can do both as what both agi and vit builds can do, but only to a lower extent but you get a taste of both worlds. Either builds of hybrid Agi>Vit or Vit>Agi are very unique in there own way. You can attack normally quite often but your ASPD which isnt as superb as a Agi build you may rely on sp once and a while for DS.

Cons: Will never excel at what either can do specially. Status resistance is at a medium here. So this can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. But the one thing a hybrid can’t usually do that a vit can’t do is put points into strength not allowing them to carry as much pots as a vit would. Also depending on what variant of hybrid you do decide to go for. Determains who you look more like, your agi or vit counter part ,but your abilities are lower compared to them but at least have the capability do do both of there specailties at a lower extent. Also i have noticed that with the stats required for hybrids. You have more effective songs compared to support builds because you have higher agi, medium vit, somewhat medium or low int and High Dex. Making your Impressive Riff or Slow grace better of those of support but only by a smaller %. You still depend on sp somewhat expect to be sitting every now and then to heal with a heal clip, and do Improve Concentration.

*Note the 80/50 stat is saying either or, sure you can go dead middle but discouraged, reason being either way you will be hybrid but you will have a higher defence stat to lean on when you fight.

As Minstrels and Gypsies, however. We do get Arrow Vulcan that is ASPD independent so it does not require agi to be effective. Thus allowing more woe builds to be effective and more common. And get 160 dex with any build so that means we get to carry 150 dex on our own!

Transcendent Builds

Agi Builds

Ability to use tactics that they used as an agi bard, but not very effective in terms of PVP or Woe Stand point, but would completely rock the pvm world. I have not seen this kind of builds but can reach outstanding aspd's of 180+ with instruments bringing a new light for those who think of difference. Same limitations as an Agi bard however. But look at this way, your slow grace and impressive riff will be the best out there. Very Interesting to use with bows when you run low on sp, and need to regen for AV.

Vit Builds

The ability to be a pure force of strength. Taking hits and dishing out a powerhouse of damage with Arrow Vulcan. Make sure you have an electric guitar for those pvp battles when some one pnuemas or else your out for the count. Same limitations as a Vit bard except the fact that this build has an actual decent Experience per hour while levelling. VERY DEPENTENDENT ON ARROWVULCAN get lots of int to cover that or else. Don’t get caught with your enemy in a pneuma in Woe. An Electric Guitar can solve this problem but only in pvp situations. Expect to still sit quite often to build up your sp to heal yourself, IC and AV.

Hybrid Builds

Ability to take a little of both worlds and smash it together once again. Sure, your Vit won’t be sky high as a vit build but you still get into the high mediums of vit for decent status immunity. Your flee will probably not change from bard to minstrel on a big standpoint. Will never get superb flee as an agi build. But still enough to probably get those thief classes and swordsman to wonder why they cant hit you, with the exception with their, transcendent classes but you can still give them a lot of trouble. And you still get to use bows and instruments to keep in your arsenal in case you have to use them. SP Dependent some what until you build up your agility.

Other Builds

Int/Dex Build

Since this build does not have agi or vit. I think it might be something to post about... This build should be more recommended to Bards and Minstrels because they are guarnteed to have a magic attack if they possess the Electric Guitar... Jupital Thunder level 1. Since we can achieve 150 dex Instant Cast being able to spam this skill would be somewhat powerful. Since it is Instant cast this skill can literally be done as fast as you can hit your button... But the only draw back to it is that using it in PvP there is a Knockback effect enabled there so spamming it there might be hard unless you get your enemy against a wall... In WoE it can prove its usefulness since there is no knock back effect but expect to be stunned pretty quickly... Leveling this build as a bard would be difficult since your ASPD is low due to no agility and probably stuck to areas where you JT would be effective, which is very limited... But as a Minstrel leveling this build would probably be easy... since you have AV you can attack and almost always get one hit kills in certain areas for good exp, And since AV is ASPD independent it is perfect for the job... But getting alot of int will allow you to have a really good sp regen and a decent amount of SP to put at your disposal. But this build you are pretty much as fragile as a mage so expect to be teleporting quite some while leveling... This build not only allows you to have a Strong Magic attack but also a Strong Phyisical Attack... Also Your magic strings will be the best in the land. SP Regen is very good with this build though.

So far, that’s what I have compiled from fellow members from the Bard/Dancer forum from viewing past threads and also info several people who play on my server.

Also with new cards coming out that introduces a new weapon that may make Hybrid, Agi build something to plan for when fighting against pnuema.

A +10 3x Bloody Injustice Carded Violin or Rope. Being able to pull off decent ASPD for chances of doing sonic blow level one are very good. Especially since Sonic Blow level 1 has a damage mod for 340%! I don’t think the aco class on that side of the pnuema will ever suspect it.

It’s a good weapon but i don’t suggest you make it until once you have your normal PvP / Woe weapon on hand first because these weapons can ring up a pretty big penny as most weapons do, but it’s a way to say... "Didn't think i could do that now did ya" and mind you this weapon is not for serious battles, it can be but its more for fun than it is useful.

But don't think I've counted those of you out with other builds. Something interesting for you. A Beserk Guitar or "Spirited Guitar", not exactly what it is. But apparently it is a guitar that brings your aspd to 190 automatically. However punishes your dex pretty baddly. But think of this, if your minstrel has a decent amount of Int. Toss on some magic auto casting equipment on and wail away with that guitar an see your magic fly.

Also this guide is to inform those players new and old to this class we call our speciality. That this only describes what each build can offer not that one if better than the other because, Its not the build that makes some one better, its the playing style which makes some one efficient using that build which makes them great, and even feared by the public when they make an appearance in a guild siege.
